After an excellent prelim where she qualified in 5th position, Canadian rookie Chandra Crawford raced to an amazing 3rd place in today's freestyle sprint in Davos, Switzerland. The race was won by Sweden's Anna Dahlberg ahead of Finland's Virpi Kuitunen. Crawford beat out a host of top Europeans including prelim winner Ella Gjoemle of Norway, last year's World Champion Emelie Oehrstig of Sweden, super-strong veterans Manuela Henkel (Germany) and Hilde Pederson (Norway), Olympic sprint medalist Evi Sachenbacher (Germany) and many other top skiers including Crawford's own teammates Beckie Scott and Sara Renner.

Scott missed qualifying for the A-Final, but won her B-final heat to take fifth overall for the day. Renner, a World Sprint Championship medalist from last season, ended up 12th. The only US skier to make the top-30 and ski in the head-to-head heats in today's race was Kikkan Randall from Anchorage, Alaska. Randall qualified 24th in the prelim and ended up taking 28th.
