Borlange, Sweden–Freestyle Sprint:
Canadian Devon Kershaw followed up on a promising 4th-place prelim rank by rocketing through his heats all the way to the A final where he faced three Swedes: perennial Dusseldorf World Cup sprint winner Peter Larsson, 2003 World Sprint Champion Thobias Fredriksson, and recent Olympic Gold Medalist in the sprint and overall World Cup sprint leader Bjoern Lind.
Kershaw's semifinal was hardly any easier, with among others two of the most successful sprinters ever: Norwegian Tor Arne Hetland (many-time World Cup winner, World Championship gold medalist Olympic Champion) and Italy's Christian Zorzi (about the same). The young Canadian relegated both of them to the B-Final.

In the A-Final, Sweden's Thobias Fredriksson and Peter Larsson took the top two spots. But Kershaw was right on their heels, beating out the Number 1-ranked Sprinter in the World for third. Hetland won the B-Final with Zorzi 6th. </p>
