CXC Team Has Elite Athlete Positions Open

Central Cross Country Skiing with the support of the American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation is
pleased to announce athlete openings for “CXC Team”. A full time year round Olympic
Development Program which will take off on April 1st 2006.

Athletes must be out of college and committed full time to the program. Athletes will be selected on April 15, 2006 based primarily on USSA points list #5 2006 with some coach’s discretion.

Athletes should provide the following information to yuriy.gusev@cxcskiing.org prior to April 10, 2006:

Head coach of the program will be announced on March 30th.

CXC Team Vision
The vision of CXC Team is to close the gap between Junior, U23, and Senior athlete development by
providing professional world class training and coaching opportunities. The vision objectives are
critical elements toward the drive for the United States Ski Team’s achievement of Cross Country
Olympic podiums by 2010 and Olympic Gold by 2014.

CXC Team will initially include 6 athletes one Head Coach and one Assistant Coach. CXC Team will have an equal number of male and female athletes. Athletes will be selected based on the USSA national ranking list. Selected athletes will establish residence in the Central Region for their contract period. CXC Team athletes will be ambassadors of cross country skiing and will be involved in the local ski communities by assisting at least once a week with the local junior and adult programs through spring, summer, and fall.

The vision of CXC Team includes the provision of simultaneous athletic and job career advancement.
Athletes will be allowed to devote appropriate time in the furtherance of their professional career advancement while investing full time in their training and competing. CXC believes athletes must be competitive in the job market after retiring from professional sport.

CXC Team Mission
The mission of CXC Team is to make the vision a reality by selecting, training and providing full support for a team of world-class athletes and by involving those athletes in the regional ski communities. The team will deliver role models, ski specific education and motivational support for young athletes throughout the CXC communities.
