BOGUS BASIN NORDIC HEAD COACH / PROGRAM DIRECTOR

The Bogus Basin Nordic Team is a year-round, competitive junior cross-country ski program focused on helping its members achieve their athletic goals, whether those goals are having fun with friends or success at the World-Cup level. Currently the team has 43 kids ages 10-19 and it has enormous potential for growth.

The Bogus Basin Nordic Head Coach and Program Director is the top individual within the Nordic Team structure. As such he or she is responsible for the oversight and management of the program as a whole, as well as progress toward established program goals.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

•Provide the vision and direction to further establish Bogus Basin Nordic Team as one of the top programs of its kind in the nation.
•Function as Head Coach.
•Development and Oversight of youth programming.
•Construction of monthly Training Schedules and Annual Training Plans for Competition Team.
•Oversight of and communication with coaching staff.
•Hiring
•Year-end staff evaluations
•Reports to and regular communication with Board of Directors.
•Oversight of Program Budget.
•Oversight of Transportation
•Fundraising development and participation
•Communication with athletes and parents.
•Goal Setting.
•Performance / Progress toward goals review.
•Bi-annual Newsletter, Team Handbook Production, and Web Site updates.
•Development of annual program fee structure and team layout.
•Travel with the team to several major events (US National Championships, Junior National Championships, JOQ’s, etc.) throughout the course of the season.

This position is year-round, and begins Summer 2006.

Pay for this job is negotiable and will be based on previous experience in Nordic Sport and Management.

Pay Range $25,000-$32,000 plus a benefits stipend

The Bogus Basin Nordic Assistant Head Coach will be second-in-command within the Nordic Team Structure.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

•Assist the Head Coach / Program Director with all coaching and administrative aspects of the program.
•Function as Assistant Head Coach.
•Help with Development and Oversight of youth programming.
•Assist with schedule, and training plan development for Competition Team.
•Assist with day to day coaching of Comp Team.
•Occasional coaching with Comp Devo and Development Teams
•Assist with oversight of and communication with coaching staff.
•Communication with Board of Directors.
•Observe Program Budget Development
•Fundraising development and participation
•Communication with athletes and parents.
•Goal Setting.
•Performance / Progress toward goals review.
•Assist with Newsletter Production, Team Handbook and web site.
•Assist with recruitment and team development..
•Travel with the team to several major events (US National Championships, Junior National Championships, JOQ’s, etc.) throughout the course of the season.

This position is full time October 1st until April 15th. The possibility for part time summer work (June-Sept) paid on an hourly basis also exists.

Pay for this job is negotiable and will be based on previous experience in Nordic Sport and Management.

Pay Range $9,000 – $12,000
