CXC Team Athletes Announced

Central Cross Country Skiing with the support of the American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation is pleased to announce CXC Team athletes for 2006/07 season.

Five men and three women have been named to the CXC Ski Team.

Men
Bryan Cook, 22, Rhinelander, WI — 2006 U23 World Championships Team, NMU
Brian Gregg, 21, Anchorage, AK – 2006 U23 World Championships Team, UAA
Garrott Kuzzy, 23, Minneapolis, MN — 2005/2006 Middlebury College
Matt Liebsch, 22, Minneapolis, MN — 2005/2006 Pioneer Midwest Team, GO! Training
Andre Watt, 24, Duluth, MN — 2005/06 Salomon Team

Women
Caitlin Compton, 25, Minneapolis, MN — 2005/2006 Subaru Factory Team, GO! Training
Tami Kochen, 23, Marquette, MI — 2005/06 NMU
Laura Valaas, 22, Wenatchee, WA – 2006 U23 World Championships Team, Whitman College

The CXC Ski Team was designed to bridge the gap between collegiate skiing and the National Team. They will train and race together year round with full time coaching and race support. CXC Team athletes will reside in cities of their choice throughout the Midwest. The Team Headquarters will be Hayward/Cable, Wisconsin. Team members will work at least once a week with local junior and master groups when they are not involved with group training camps or competitions. All members of CXC Team will be cross country ski ambassadors. They will support local ski communities with the latest training philosophies, technique and strength training and will be role models for young athletes.
