Norwegian ski star Marit Bjorgen has hired her own publicist.

The idea is to make sure that she is protected from media, is able to train enough, and is able to focus on the races she is participating in, says Norwegian NRK television.

Bjorgen was the second-most talked about person in in Norwegian newspapers, television and radio last winter, after the country's prime minister.

– The media-pressure is quite large in periods, and I’m also supposed to train during all of this, and it sometimes gets to be too much, says Bjorgen.

Rolf Nereng has been hired to be Bjorgen's contact person to the media. He has lots of experience in this department and has performed similar jobs for Bjorn Daehlie and businessman Kjell Inge Rokke.

– Some people simply need a little protection in order to be able to perform to their optimal ability, says Rolf Nereng

– I’m not going to put all blame on media for things not working the way it was supposed to this winter, but too many things besides training and racing drained too much energy in addition to lots of training, says Bjorgen.
