Boulder Nordic Sport and Engineered Tuning geared up to bring stone grinding service to West Yellowstone Ski Festival Nov 20-26

Full-service mobile ski shop to provide stone grinding, waxing and ski flex testing during fall camp with pre-season orders of new skis and stone grinding available for pickup in West Yellowstone.

Engineered Tuning partners Boulder Nordic Sport (BNS) and Caldwell Sport Specialties (CSS) will bring a full-service stone-grinding ski shop to the West Yellowstone Ski Festival November 20-26. Owners Nathan Schultz (BNS) and Zach Caldwell (CSS) will travel to the event with a Tazzari stone grinding machine, a full shop and staff to provide professional ski service at the season-opening event.

Services available during the festival will include expert stone grinding, waxing, heat box treatments, ski flex testing and fleet evaluations with Engineered Tuning’s proprietary testing equipment. Stone grinding is a process where a ski is passed through a machine that peels a very thin layer of base material off and carves micro-structure into the ski. It improves ski performance by flattening the base, removing scratches and burned, dried base material while etching appropriate structure into the base. Skis that are stone ground generally absorb more wax and perform better after grinding.

Skis delivered to BNS for grinding before Nov 7 will be available for pickup Nov 20-26 in West Yellowstone, waxed and ready to ski. BNS is running a promotion for a half-price heat box treatments for all skis received November 1-7 for delivery to West Yellowstone. Due to the high demand expected during the week of the Yellowstone festival, BNS is taking reservations for grinds. To ensure space in the grinding schedule, download a work order form from www.bouldernordicsport.com and fax the completed work order to BNS.

Engineered Tuning will be set up at Rendezvous Snowmobile Rentals, 415 Yellowstone Ave in West Yellowstone November 19-26th. Skis can be dropped off for service during the festival at the grinding shop from 8-9AM and 4-5PM and at the nightly expo inside the convention center. There will be an open house Friday, November 24th from 3-5PM to demonstrate the stone grinding process, flex testing with Zach Caldwell and Nathan Schultz on hand to answer questions.

BNS owner Nathan Schultz commented, “we’re excited to kick off the season at West Yellowstone and we think this will be a great benefit to the ski community. Setting up in Yellowstone will give thousands of skiers convenient access to our world-class services and we hope to show them how much we can do to benefit their skiing.”

Engineered Tuning provides professional ski service using Tazzari stone-grinding equipment as well as sales and advanced fit of cross-country skis and equipment. Both BNS and CSS carry a full line of wax and professional tuning equipment. ET is a collaboration between Caldwell Sport Specialties (Engineered Tuning East) and Boulder Nordic Sport (Engineered Tuning West).
