The Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club announced this week that they will be launching several new programs in the next two months.
New additions to the SSWSC's already strong junior programs will be a 5-Week Summer Residency Program for athletes J1 and older as well as year-round programs for both high level Postgrad athletes who have completed high school and for high-school age athletes seeking outstanding training and racing opportunities.

Steamboat and the SSWSC

Steamboat Springs is known simply as Ski Town, U.S.A. and has produced more winter Olympians than any other town in North America, now a record 69 and counting. Including the 2006 Games, Steamboat's Olympians have represented five different countries, made 120 Olympic appearances during 16 Winter Games.

Steamboat is an exciting western resort town with outstanding training facilities, incredible recreational opportunities, early season snow (often skiing by late October!), 5 unique nordic centers, an average of 325 inches of snow a year, a world-class competition venue at Howelsen Hill (host to the 2006 NCAA Championships and to annual Nordic Combined World Cups), a chance to burn through tin after tin of Extra Blue, and a huge alpine resort famous world-wide for it's snow quality. In the summer and fall we have great biking, hiking, river-swimming and paddling along with amazing festivals and concerts. Combine all this with 300 days of sunshine each year, proximity to a major airport (Denver) and to the USST hub in Park City, and you've got a community that's hard to beat!

The Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club is currently in it's 94th year, making the SSWSC is the oldest ski club west of the Mississippi. Since USSA began awarding “Club of the Year” six years ago, the SSWSC has won twice. The SSWSC is over 1000 athletes strong. And one of only a handful in the world that offer every snow sport discipline, including alpine, freestyle, snowboard, jumping, telemark biathlon and of course, XC!

The SSWSC XC Coaching Staff includes Brian Tate, Travis Jones, Ivana Radlova, Todd Wilson and many others.
