Astrid Uhrenholdt Jacobsen has emerged as a top sprinter this season, but it’s an all-round skier that she wants to be.

– The distance-races in Falun were very good and encouraging for me and that came on days I felt tired. That gave me the answers I was looking for and told me that I can become a good all-rounder, said Uhrenholdt Jacobsen before the recent 30 kilometer at the Norwegian championship. A solid 6th place there gave her the same answer.

And with this in mind she’ll aim for next season’s Tour de Ski. But a hard summer with dryland training is first on the agenda.

– That’s what I’m worst at. Dryland training isn’t my strong side, admits the World Champion.

She will race the Horgi Opp uphill race in Voss before she takes a break. She is hoping that this will give her an idea of how the last uphill in next season’s Tour de Ski will be.

– Maybe the uphill in Val di Fiemme will feel easy after Horgi Opp, says Astrid.

Why do you think you are suddenly doing better in the longer races?

– The main reason is that I have trained well for many years.

But why won’t you just focus on sprint, since you have shown that you are best in the World there?

– It’s boring to just race sprint races, says the 2007 sprint World Champion.
