16-year old Grvdal ran faster than any European girls have ever run the 3000 meter steeplechase this weekend. The time was 9.33.19

At the moment the focus is on running for Karoline following a ski season with ups and downs.

Training for both skiing and track
– The ski season was OK, but I was sick before junior nationals and that set me back, says Karoline.

Great results in the Norwegian Junior Cup with 2 victories was supposed to conclude with podiums at Nationals. But that didn’t happen.

– I got a 5 and 6. place, but was still a little sick and probably shouldn’t have raced.

She has still not decided if she will chose skiing or running in the future. The combination has worked fine so far. She is doing each sport 6 months out of the year.

Competing in 3 championships
– How is it possible to combine this?

– I feel that the different training I’m doing for the 2 sports is positive for each other, says Grovedal.

Grovedal will wait until she is done with high school to choose one sport only.

She has a busy summer with 3 championships:
U-18 Worlds in Ostrava
European junior championship in Holland
U- Olympics in Beograd

Her goal for the winter is to make the Norwegian junior Worlds team in Poland.
– I will be one of the youngest if I make it but I believe it’s possible. We’ll see, says Karoline.
