Methow Valley, Washington- Looking For Junior Program Head Coach

The Methow Valley Nordic Team, is looking for an energetic, highly motivated coach to lead a race and recreational program for junior skiers beginning summer or fall of 2007. This is an outstanding opportunity for someone looking to be a part of one of the most exciting Nordic skiing communities in North America.

We are seeking candidates with national racing experience and coaching skills. College degree and coaching experience desired.

The successful applicant will fill the dual roles of Head Coach and Program Director. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to;
providing individual training programs for all participants in the J-2 and older program, leading several group training sessions weekly, providing feedback and evaluation to all group members, providing competition support at major races.

Pay will be in the range of $25,000 to $30,000 plus additional, depending upon our fundraising ability. All race-associated costs (travel/lodging/meals) will be covered by MVNT. Successful applicant will be responsible for his or her own transportation and moving costs to the Methow Valley.

The Methow Valley has many assets, which will be helpful in making the program successful, including: a ski season over 4 months long; excellent dry land training, especially for activities on trails; with over 200 km excellent in-season grooming and many summer season trails, an outstanding race organization Methow Valley Sports Trails Association, with a full schedule of club and regional events; a great feeder program – with over 100 young skiers in our program, a large and supportive club membership and skiing public; excellent coverage of the sport in local media; a comprehensive cross country infrastructure both physical and organizational.
