Junior National Champion Kathrine Ingalls, from the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club was injured in a serious road bike accident last Friday.

Kat, an avid mountain bike racer, was riding with her mom north of Steamboat Springs when she was hit by a Semi truck. The truck rolled over her lower body. She sustained a broken femur and pelvis in the accident and was flown to Denver Medical Center for treatment. Kathrine has no internal injuries, head or spinal cord injuries and is expected to make a full recovery in time.

Talking with her on Wednesday, Kat was in good spirits, and was hoping to get out of her bed and tour the hospital grounds in a wheelchair as soon as the next day. No word yet on when she'll be heading home to Steamboat.

Please be careful on the roads!
