Berlanda (ITA) and Magnusson (SWE) take titles in Roller Skiing sprint

The FIS Rollerski World Championships in Croatia continued with an exciting sprint race held on a 180-meter-long course in the Oroslavje town center on Friday.

In the junior ladies' category, Julia Köckritz of Germany beat Evgenia Kurochkina (RUS) by only two hundreds of a second to take the gold. In the junior men's category, Ivan Trofimov (RUS) claimed victory in the junior men's category by beating Folco Pizzuto (ITA) by nine hundreds of a second. Norway's Ragnar B. Andresen captured the bronze medal by winning the B final.

As expected Maria Magnusson of Sweden became the new ladies' World Champion. The dominator of this year's World Cup beat Marina Firsova (RUS) by a clear margin of 1.43 seconds. In the B final, Mateja Bogatec (ITA) picked up the bronze medal ahead of Andrijana Stipanicic (CRO).

Alessio Berlanda of Italy beat compatriot David Bogatec by just a hundred of a second to claim the mens' title. The bronze went to Igor Glushkov of Russia, the defending 2005 sprint world champion.
