West Yellowstone Ski Festival Organizer Sara Hoovler reports:

SuperTour Races:

Due to unusually, low snow levels on the Rendezvous Trail System we have been forced to limit our race schedule, and move our location to the South Plateau. Roughly five miles south, and 800 vertical feet higher than the rendezvous trials, the South Plateau currently has a 10-12 inches of snow groomed on 20k of trails.

Garrott Kuzzy from the U.S. Ski Team reports great skiing on the South Plateau and has been skiing on his race skis for the last two days.

In the event that snow levels remain as they are, we plan to hold a point-to-point classic race this Friday on the Whiskey Trail (from the lower gate to the upper gate on the South Plateau Rd.). The start time has been moved up to 9am. A decision on the Saturday freestyle race will be made on Friday at 5pm.

Race Registration will be extended due to the uncertainty of snow conditions. The race secretary will be at the Snow Desk in the Holiday Inn on Monday from noon until 2pm for information and registration. Registration for the Friday Classic race will close on Thursday at noon, a start list will be available by Thursday at 6pm, and bib pick-up will be on the course Friday morning. Registration for the Saturday Freestyle race will close on Friday at noon.

If we receive sufficient snow in town, all races will revert to the Rendezvous Ski Trails and original plans.

On-Snow Demo:

The on-snow demo has been moved indoors to the Electric/Faithful conference room at the Holiday Inn. Visit with the experts from Alpina, Atomic, Fischer, Madshus, Rossignol, Salomon, Solda, Swix, and Toko and try their gear on the trails. The demo will be open on Tuesday-Saturday from 7-9am, 12-2pm, and 4-6pm.

As always, please enjoy the Indoor Trade Show Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings!

Grooming Update…

Sunday, November 23 10pm Groomed the Whiskey trail as well as another five miles, 8 k's, of the plateau road past the outer gate on the Whiskey Trail. This goes to the bottom of Dry Canyon and climbs up south towards Black Bear Canyon. Single track and skate lane.

2-4 inches of fresh snow on the South Plateau trails last night, only about an inch hit town. The road and parking areas will be plowed and widened tonight.

SLOW DOWN. I passed quite a few cars & vans that were driving too fast for the road conditions. I repeat, SLOW DOWN!!!
