NCCSEF 2009 Calendar
The National Cross Country Ski Education Foundation announces their 2009 fundraiser calendar. It is filled with high-quality images of the US Ski Team from recent World Cup action and features photos and bios of the next generation of US ski racers – before they become household names.
The NCCSEF has granted over $175,000 to junior racers in the last 12 years. They’ve funded every World Junior Championship team since 1997 and every J1 Scando Cup team since it was initiated in 1999. The annual calendar is a major component of the NCCSEF Future Fund and you can be a part of this great tradition with your purchase!
$15 of each sale goes directly to NCCSEF – BNS is only recuperating costs of fulfilling this item…
Editor’s Note: We just found out that the NCCSEF calendar may in fact be canceled this year. A real shame. We will make an announcement when we know for sure.
Toko Thermo Plus Gloves
There is nothing worse than cold hands – and nothing better than a sweet pair of gloves. Toko Thermos are a great all-around training and race glove, keeping hands warm in cold temperatures, but are not overly bulky and do well even as the temps head back up.
Two Planks and a Passion: The Dramatic History of Skiing
Predating the wheel, the ski has played an important role in our history. This is brilliantly brought to life in this engaging book. Roland Huntford’s brilliant history begins 20,000 years ago in the last ice age on the icy tundra of an unformed earth. Man is a traveling animal, and on these icy slopes skiing began as a means of survival. That it has developed into the leisure and sporting pursuit of choice by so much of the globe bears testament to its elemental appeal. In polar exploration, it has changed the course of history. Elsewhere, in war and peace, it has done so too. The origins of skiing are bound up with the emergence of modern man and the world we live in today.
Toko High Fluoro Paste Wax
Easy application, high performance, need we say more.
Holmenkol Pro Groove Scraper
$40 for a groove scraper? It seems outrageous until you use one of these – highly recommended by Zach Caldwell and Nathan Schultx of Boulder Nordic Sport, this tool is worth the price. How many times has your groove scraper jumped out and put a nice 45 degree cut in your perfect base? Never again.
Nathan Flurry Hydration Waistpack
A great winter training water bottle belt featuring an insulated bottle holster and plenty of storage for kick wax and snacks. This is not your average drink belt – Nathan takes hydration seriously and it is obvious by the quality and function of their systems.
A traveler’s dream – a perfect gift for the frequent traveler – be it in the car or on a plane. Skiers travel quite a bit, and catching up on rest is very important. A good travel pillow is essential.
A warm drink after a hard workout is one of the great pleasures of life, and is a good way to start recovery!
Black Diamond® Apollo Lantern
Light and compact, this is a great camping lantern. The Apollo features a dimmer to allow the user to adjust light output.
A classic drink belt in the Euro style. Room for accessories on top.
