Well, after over a month of trying to diagnose and mend my knee issues, I am finally on my way back to running again. This afternoon I had arthroscopic surgery on my left knee. The surgery was a success. Dr. Pearson was able to repair my lateral meniscus. ”Repair” being the key word because this means that I will be able to return to running at the same intensity levels as before after rehab. Not going to lie, I was extremely nervous that he was going to have to do a meniscectomy, which would have ended my running forever.
Now I am back at home, resting fairly comfortably and continuously icing my knee . I will be on crutches for 3 weeks with 50% weight bearing beginning now. For the next month I won’t be bending my knee over 90 degrees per doctors orders, but as soon as my port holes (holes for the scope and tools) are healed, I will be in the pool beginning my deep water running.
Time for pain killers…
