XCFeedsWomen’s Team in Bethel

Rain…finally! Like the rest of New England the weather here has been HOT. Training this week in Bethel, ME with the U.S. and MWSC Women’s Team has been really good. We’ve been logging a lot of volume hours, lots of long easy distance sessions. The weather has made it very difficult for these long sessions with temperatures in the mid to high 80’s; re-hydrating has been very key to being able to not only finish the current workout, but to ensure that the ladies can make it through the entire week of training.br /br /a href=”http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_mrH2aLzeZss/So_X5kGC4qI/AAAAAAAAAQ0/fOSRJ5CZTLg/s1600-h/IMGP5726.JPG”img style=”cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 134px;” src=”http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_mrH2aLzeZss/So_X5kGC4qI/AAAAAAAAAQ0/fOSRJ5CZTLg/s200/IMGP5726.JPG” border=”0″ alt=””id=”BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5372750264417837730″ //abr /The Women’s Team relaxing in one of the many swimming holes around Bethelbr /(Front L to R) BethAnn Chamberlain, Andrea Mayo, Tracy Barnesbr /(Back L to R) Lanny Barnes, Annelies Cook, Sara Studebaker, Addie Byrne, Susan Dunklee, Grace Boutot, Laura Spectorbr /br /Our first day was a long bike ride from Bethel to Conway, NH. It’s a 90+ mile ride up and over Evan’s Notch and the famous Hurricane Mountain smack dab in the middle. Hurricane Mountain is a road that averages a 17% grade and stretches for over a mile. Coulple with extremely high temperatures, this was an epic ride.br /br /The rollerskiing has been good here, we’ve found a few roads with little traffic. Skiing up to Grafton Notch provided some nice views, an awesome post workout swimming hole, and a local pie stand on the way out.br /br /a href=”http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_mrH2aLzeZss/So_X7nEwYII/AAAAAAAAARU/Fm54HhZui2Q/s1600-h/IMGP5645.JPG”img style=”cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 134px;” src=”http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_mrH2aLzeZss/So_X7nEwYII/AAAAAAAAARU/Fm54HhZui2Q/s200/IMGP5645.JPG” border=”0″ alt=””id=”BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5372750299577475202″ //abr /Grace heading up Grafton Notchbr /br /a href=”http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_mrH2aLzeZss/So_hdadLDXI/AAAAAAAAARc/u14UfWILmvk/s1600-h/IMGP5704.JPG”img style=”cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 134px;” src=”http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_mrH2aLzeZss/So_hdadLDXI/AAAAAAAAARc/u14UfWILmvk/s200/IMGP5704.JPG” border=”0″ alt=””id=”BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5372760775910428018″ //abr /Andrea climbing on the rocks during a post workout swimbr /br /The other day we hiked through the “Rugged Mile” of the Appalachian trail on our way to summitting both the North and South Peaks near Goose Eye Mountain.
