Winter in Lake Placid??

Driving into the Adirondacks yesterday afternoon felt more like winter than early fall. The rain was mixed with a heavy amount of snow and the tops of the mountains were white!

As the NENSA group trickled in from various parts of New England, the weather cleared a bit and we had a nice double pole/classic session on Bear Cup Rd, across from the OTC. 8 athletes are here taking advantage of the opportunity to ski with programs like the US Ski Team, CXC, and the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation.

This morning we awoke to bright sunshine and enthusiasm for a distance skate ski on freshly paved quiet back roads in and around Wilmington. It is a good group up here- an older one for the most part. Having this many experienced athletes in one place makes the training sessions really awesome to watch and to ski in for the athletes. Our group consists of Ida Sargent, Tim Reynolds, Hannah Dreissigacker, Kaitlynn Miller (Craftsbury), David Chamberlain (MWSC), Jennie Bender, Caitlyn Patterson (UVM) and Patrick O’Brien (Dartmouth).

This afternoon all the groups will head out for an easy distance trail run. Stay tuned for more news.
