Today’s mass start skate races were the second and final races of the Telemark, Winsconsin SuperTour weekend.
In the men’s 15km Brian Gregg (CXC) outsprinted teammate Matt Liebsch by three tenths of a second for the win.
Fifty-two seconds later there was another 5-way sprint for both the finish line and third place which was taken by Chris Cook of Steinbock Racing. Following Cook across the line in the next 2.6 seconds were fourth through seventh place finishers Karl Nygren (CXC), Michael Somppi (NTDC), Martin Baanerud (Kjelsaas IL) and Santiago Ocariz (UWGB).
This was the second time this weekend that Liebsch had come close to a win, as he was less than 2 seconds off the winning time in yesterday’s classic race. Gregg was also a return to the podium, placing third yesterday.
In the women’s 10km race, Rebecca Dussault continued her winning streak by finishing 17 seconds ahead of CXC teammate Maria Stuber, making this the fourth SuperTour race in a row they have finished 1-2. Kristina Owen, also racing for CXC, took third in today’s race, 51.1 seconds down to Dussault.
Mirroring yesterday’s prowess, Team CXC stole 5 of the 6 podium spots in today’s mass start races.
