Whislter, British Columbia – Ivan Babikov (CAN) finished 8th in the men’s 15km freestyle, the best result ever for a Canadian man in the Olympics, besting Pierre Harvey’s 14th in the 30km classic in Calgary. Babikov was just 18 seconds off the podium, and skied up throughout the race.

Good race Ivan, I know you would have preferred a medal but there is no doubt that was a solid race and congratulations. It looked very difficult.

Team Canada definitely gets a medal in the “worst looking uniform” event. Not just in XC, but the biathlon and speedskating suits I saw were just as horrible!
