Huge thanks to Nordic Ultratune for sponsoring an excellent camp to Sovereign Lakes for some great spring skiing and training. Summer skiing made a huge difference for me last season.
After the CXC May Camp I flew out to Spokane, WA and met up with Mark and Margaret for the trip to Vernon, BC. Sovereign Lakes Nordic Center groomed 10-15km of trails from May 7-16th this year.
Silver Star/Soverign is only 5 hours from the Methow which is convenient. I worked on technique with the Methow Valley Nordic Team juniors each day. Back in the day I remember these guys all being little kids, I think they were on a hill in this picture.
The Juniors camped in a beautiful campground down in town. They had a pretty sweet setup with cots in the tent and a big canvas outfitters tent to cook in. Skiing in the morning, running and swimming in the afternoon.
I was able to get some great training in over the three days including nearly 9 hours of on-snow time. Now I am back in the Methow for a few days before heading down to Bend for more skiing. Life is good.
