[updated Friday 11/5/10 @ 7am EST]br /Elena did the 3km yesterday morning. She ran even splits and had a good surge in the last 600m.br /br /Elena Lüthi 11:56 (-40)br /br /It wasn’t quite a PR, but it is the fastest she has run in ~2 years. Again, with less running than past years.br /br /br /a onblur=”try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}” href=”http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_cBFLp0vFuic/TNPlFiti5vI/AAAAAAAAATc/-wM3JBLNFtg/s1600/900-elena-run1.jpg”img style=”display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;” src=”http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_cBFLp0vFuic/TNPlFiti5vI/AAAAAAAAATc/-wM3JBLNFtg/s400/900-elena-run1.jpg” alt=”” id=”BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5536020250348414706″ border=”0″ //abr /Today the athletes did the 3,000m fitness test. We hyped this day up, and the athletes delivered — in spite of breezy 37˚ weather, heckling spectators, and duffel bags on the track.br /br /It is easy to run a fast 3km time, if you spend a lot of time running. We have done a few high-quality running workouts this Fall, but these times are really an indication of how fitness has changed over the past 2 months. If we had dedicated 2 weeks to “running training,” I am confident all these times would be 10-20 seconds faster.br /br /Name / Time (Time change from 8/24/10)br /br /Ryley 10:04 (-21) = PRbr /Hans 10:10 (-18) = PRbr /Jackson 10:43 (-20) = PRbr /Kaitlin 12:51 (-45)br /Dani 13:58 (-41) = PRbr /br /Ryley and Hans ran very consistent laps from start to finish (5:28/5:29 @ 1600m). Jackson, Kaitlin and Dani all started fast for the first ~1000m, and would’ve been span style=”font-style: italic;”faster/span had they run more even splits.br /br /I am optimistic about these results. Our athletes have not done as much running this fall compared to last year. And lately, they have done more rollerskiing. The last “running workout” in the training logs was on October 20th — nearly 2 full weeks ago — and that was an easy 8x200m flyers. Our last true intervals were on October 15th (the deluge).br /br /Since the last blog update, here is the training log:br /br /Friday = Rollerski repeats, 8-12 x 45″, near race pace.br /Saturday = off.br /Sunday = off.br /Monday = Adventure run/hike over the river and through the woods. Low intensity.br /Tuesday = 3km time trial.br /br /Upcoming this week: more rollerskiing and intensity.br /br /This is the last big push before snow.div class=”blogger-post-footer”img width=’1′ height=’1′ src=’https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/1847564486460994594-7562333626025152728?l=gmvsxc.blogspot.com’ alt=” //div
