The GMVS Numerical Assessment of Radness is off-the-charts lately. We have perfect mid-winter conditions, and there is a layer of crust underneath the powder which makes off-piste skiing really good, too. Devlin and Hans found a nice jump on the way down from the cabin today (I think that was before they called their moms!).
These pictures were taken this morning, 3/23/11. Note the powder and perfect corduroy!
Yesterday we did a ski tour at Breadloaf (Middlebury). Half the team was on skate skis, and we skied up to the Beaver Ponds. Justin lead the other half on classic skis down from the top of the Middlebury Gap, and eventually onto the Catamount Trail and then to Breadloaf.
Today we visited our other home trails, Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe. We put a base-layer of blue klister on our classic skis, but it turns out we didn’t need it as there is 6-8″ of powder on the trails! The snowpack in central-VT is solid, and it looks like we are going to get at least another 2-weeks of Nordic skiing!
