Skiing in the Cold

We’ve got a big group up at Nationals, but we’ve still got a group of 8 younger kids at home. And we’re using our time well. Yesterday we headed up Stratton Mtn. for some intervals on the alpine slopes. (Sorry no pics because it was windy with snow blowing from the guns, and coach was doing the intervals too to see what all the whining was about). After skiing 1/4 of the way up the Mountain we are able to get on some of the less steep connector trails that wind up to the Mid-Mountain Lodge. It gives us a good solid 8 minutes of L3 skiing. After, we whipped back down the slopes, through a terrain park, and jumped in the van back to school where we did a cool down on the bikes followed by an easy strength session.

This morning we headed over to Grafton Ponds for some nice easy classic skiing. There’s about 1k of skiing, mostly on the flats – but we used the opportunity to do drills and work on technique and d-pole. We’ll be back there tomorrow morning for some classic intervals in prep for the race there on Sunday.

Good luck to everyone else up at Nationals!
