UNH Carnival Distance Races

What a difference a day makes! Today the college kids and Skyler raced mass start distance races under sunny skies at Jackson. The Jackson crew did a great job and skiing was excellent for the womens 15 km and the mens 20 km.

Pictured above, the girls spill over the hill about 1 km into the race. At this point in the season, it seems like a UVM/Dartmouth party with those two teams taking the top 9 spots in the womens race, but rest assured, the other teams are working hard and planning to shake things up in the coming weeks.

Danielle.
Hallie hammers the hill.
Sophie made her move on the final downhill, entered the last 1/2 km of flats with a solid lead and held on for the win.
Gage nears the finish.
Austin Cobb is one of the few Middlebury kids who escaped the raging stomach bug and he skied a good race.
Skyler finally felt healthy enough to race his first distance race of the year and he skied a good solid race.
This is the beginning of the mens finish sprint. Eric Paker (in 3rd here) came storming through for a narrow victory over Franz Berstein and Sam Tarling. After 20 kms. , it was exciting to see the close finish.
Fritz skied well and finished in the mid teens.
Skyler brings it home.
Tomorrow our BKL kids will race in Grafton. It should be a nice day and a fun race!
