Rogla 30km Classic Mass Start

Brian GreggMarch 13, 2012

Originally I had planned on not racing the 30km classic race in Rogla, but I have been feeling good and I felt it was just too good an opportunity.  The pack was huge and almost everyone was together at 5km.  It is a bit surprising to feel good in a race and be skiing as far back as I was.  Casey has been helping me adjust my klister zones and I had fantastic kick.  I think I chose to go with a bit too much kick because my glide was not the greatest but I was able to make a lot of time up on the climbs.

It has been hard to adjust to my results over here.  My goals were to finishi top 3 in the swiss cup races and top 5 in the OPA races.  I haven’t been close to that yet but have still battled in each race.  Although I was a big chunk of time from the win I still found myself skiing with other racers throughout the course.  On the last lap I caught a few skiers ahead of me and had a sprint with a Spanish skier who I had skied most of the race with.
