This morning I skate roller skied with my Team Homegrown teammates up Vail pass. We did a loop around town first. The whole session took two and a half hours. We started in Vail at 8,150′ (2,484 meters) and ended at the top of the pass at 10,662′ (3,250 meters). The road and bike path up the pass are newly paved which made for great skiing! Some of the juniors on the team were a little beat at the end. Here’s Ian Boucher:
And here are Sam Tarling (right) and Tony Ryerson:
It was gorgeous on top of the pass.
And we had doughnuts at the top!
After the ski, my mom and I drove down to my grandparents house in Castle Rock (just south of Denver). It is really fun to see my grandparents for the first time in several months. It feels like fall, not winter here. I was comfortable in shorts and t-shirt and some leaves are still on the trees.
Tomorrow I will fly to Putney, Vermont to work on technique with my coach Zach Caldwell.
