New Gloucester, Maine: US Biathlon is pleased to announce the hiring of Dana Hatton as the new National Team Assistant Coach. Dana grew up in Maine and skied with the St. Lawrence Varsity Nordic Ski Team for four years. Most recently, Dana spent two years as the Graduate Assistant Coach for the St. Lawrence Ski Team, where she completed her Masters degree in Leadership.

“We are thrilled to have Dana onboard as we move into the most important part of the Olympic preparation period!” said Director of High Performance, Lowell Bailey. “She knows the Lake Placid trail system better than I do and will be a great addition to the USBA staff based here. The National Team will greatly benefit from having Dana on the ground during the training camp interims, when our European-based head coaches are not here.”

Prior to her role as a coach, Dana spent time with AmeriCorps working with middle school students in Boston. Her teaching skills coupled with her D1 athlete and coaching experience will no doubt help Dana in this new role with USBA.

“I’m looking forward to working with and learning from the National Team and coaching staff” said Dana. “This is an exciting opportunity for me and I can’t wait to expand my knowledge about biathlon and ski racing at the highest level.”

The US Biathlon Team is currently running their first National Team camp of the year in Lake Placid, NY at the new facilities at Mt. Van Hoevenberg. Dana’s main role will be assisting in the implementation of training for athletes in Lake Placid, attending camps and working with other National Team staff to ready the team for the 2022 Olympic season.
