Eastern Mass Cross-Country (EMXC) is seeking two positions for its Juniors (high school) program. EMXC is seeking a new Head Coach and Program Director and has recently added a second position, Assistant Coach and Program Coordinator, to provide leadership and support to our growing cross country ski community.
EMXC supports approximately 350 skiers ages 7 – 18 across our Youth and Juniors programs in the Greater Boston area. The two coaches for the Juniors program will directly support over 50 high school age skiers and will work to uphold the mission and vision of EMXC.
- Vision: To bring the joy of cross-country skiing, whether recreational or competing at the highest levels, to youth and juniors. To grow the ski community across the greater Boston area.
- Mission: To offer high quality, age appropriate cross-country ski coaching and instruction to youth and juniors. To develop skilled coaches and engage athletes’ families in skiing to build a lifelong appreciation and enjoyment of the sport.
The EMXC Juniors Head Coach and Program Director will lead the EMXC Juniors cross-country skiing program and ensure that EMXC is providing a high quality experience to its members. Coaching responsibilities include organizing and leading coaching development, planning and overseeing training sessions, organizing and planning racing and events, leading race-day waxing and support, and planning and leading athlete development. Program Director responsibilities include overseeing the coaches and volunteers in the program, leading local and regional outreach, ensuring program compliance with US Ski & Snowboard Minor Abuse and Prevention Policy, and collaborating with the EMXC board on strategic planning.
The EMXC Assistant Coach and Program Coordinator will assist the Head Coach and Program Director in leadership of the EMXC Juniors cross-country skiing program. Coaching responsibilities include assisting the Head Coach in coach development and education, developing age appropriate training plans with the Head Coach, supporting and leading training sessions, providing coaching support at races and other club events, and assisting athletes in the personalization of goal setting and training programs. Program coordination responsibilities include collaborating to ensure sufficient coaching and volunteer support, assisting with operating and administrative responsibilities, and supporting the program’s strategic planning and communications needs.
