In a season filled with honors, awards, and accolades, Jessie Diggins may have received her most dear distinction yet. While continuing to lead the overall World Cup chase, Diggins was recently awarded the Holmenkollen Medal, the highest Norwegian honor in skiing (including cross-country, ski jumping, Nordic combined, and biathlon). She is the first American to receive this medal which was presented to her by Norway’s Crown Prince Haakon after Saturday’s Holmenkollen 50 k. Norwegian champion, Simen Hegstad Kruger was similarly honored as a recipient of this annual award.
