Position Summary

Park City Ski & Snowboard (PCSS), one of North America’s premier winter sports organizations, seeks a dynamic and passionate cross-country devo Lead Coach. This key position serves as the crucial bridge between our foundational Kickers and Gliders program and our high-performance Competition team, developing athletes ages 9-14 through a comprehensive progression-based approach.

  • Development Philosophy: 
    The Devo Lead Coach plays a pivotal role in our athlete development pipeline: 
    Build upon fundamental skills established in Kickers and Gliders (U8/U10)  

    • Facilitate smooth transitions between program levels  
    • Prepare athletes technically and mentally for Competition team advancement  
    • Foster progression from fun-based learning to structured training environments  
    • Guide athletes through the critical “Learn to Train” to “Learn to Race” stages  
  • The Ideal Candidate Will:  
    • Be energetic and enthusiastic in delivering youth programming  
    • Demonstrate exceptional organizational and efficiency skills  
    • Show genuine passion for coaching and developing athletes ages 10-14  
    • Have a proven track record in youth development and Nordic skiing  
    • Display strong leadership abilities  
    • Create engaging training environments while maintaining professionalism  
    • Possess competition preparation experience

Primary Responsibilities
  • Leadership & Program Development 
    • Design and implement age-appropriate training programs  
    • Lead four practice sessions per week plus 2-4 hours of preparation time  
    • Create inclusive and safe training environments  
    • Coordinate equipment and facility access  
    • Organize seasonal camps, including West Yellowstone Thanksgiving Camp  
  • Communication & Administration  
    • Weekly email updates to families  
    • Playmetrics app management  
    • Detailed lesson planning  
    • Parent/athlete orientation meetings  
    • Staff coordination meetings  
Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies
    • Extensive Nordic skiing knowledge  
    • Hold a current US Ski & Snowboard Level 100 coaches license  
    • Hold and maintain SafeSport compliance  
    • Possess First aid, CPR, and AED certifications  
    • Hold and maintain a valid driver’s license  
    • Digital platform proficiency (Google Suite, Microsoft 365, Playmetrics)
Physical Requirements
    • Ability and willingness to work outdoors in all temperatures and weather extremes. 
    • Assist at practice and competition sites, including the ability to lift heavy objects.
    • Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignments without direct supervision. 
    • Evening and weekend work is expected. 
    • Must be able to work under stressful conditions.
