Saint Michael’s College Seeks Head Nordic Ski Coach

Saint Michael’s College, a Division III liberal arts institution located in Colchester, Vermont, is seeking a Head Nordic Ski Coach to lead its program. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of a year-round program, from training and competition to recruiting and budget management, while building meaningful relationships with student-athletes and the broader campus community.

Salary: $48,000–$54,000

Responsibilities

Plan and conduct daily practices during the season
Coach athletes throughout competition
Manage year-round recruiting and maintain prospect database via ARMS software
Counsel student-athletes with a focus on personal development and academic excellence (minimum 3.0 GPA expected)
Collaborate with the Head Alpine Coach to supervise the Kelley Ski Center
Manage program budget, equipment, and travel planning
Serve as event manager for non-Championship segment competitions
Engage the team in life skills programming, community service, and department-wide initiatives
Attend monthly staff meetings and respond to inquiries from within and outside the College

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required
Minimum five seasons of coaching Nordic skiing at the collegiate, professional, Olympic, or club level (competitive experience at the collegiate, national, or Olympic level will count toward this requirement)
US Ski and Snowboard L100 coach’s certification required
Current CPR and Basic First Aid certifications
Must meet Saint Michael’s College driver eligibility requirements
Familiarity with Microsoft Office and ARMS recruiting database
Strong communication and problem-solving skills across a range of audiences
