Alaska – Besh Cup – Fairbanks, Alaska
Alaska's premier race series continued in Fairbanks this weekend. One great
feature of this race was the ability to view real-time race results online during
the race, thanks to Summit
Systems. This feature will be great for parents and fans during the upcoming
Junior Nationals in Fairbanks.

Langlauf – Spokane, WA
Lots of Pacific Northwesterners headed east for the Boulder Mountain Tour, but
over 300 of them went to Spokane for this 10K classic race.

Tahoe City Classic – Tahoe XC, California
This race is part of the famous Fischer Cup and Sierra Ski Chase. For info on

Winners of this race were Beth Reid and Tim Hill.

Steamboat Stampede – Steamboat, Colorado
Nordic Combined skier Bill Demong and Alpina/Madshus Sarah Konrad won this 45K
marathon.

Wilderness Trek – Ely, MN
2001 World Cup Sprint Champion Jan Jacob Verdenius made an appearance at
the Wilderness Trek this weekend and dominated the field. Apparently Verdenius
is currently in North Dakota. That all seems a bit strange to me, so anyone
who can explain it to me – please do.

City Of Lake Loppet – Minneapolis, MN
Well over 800 people entered this new ski marathon in the twin cities on Saturday.
Chad Giese was able to ski away from Owen Hanley near the end, while Jan Guenther
won the women's race.Giese also won the sprint on Friday, along with Sonja Bostrom.
The twin cities also got an extra treat after the race, as the region was blessed
with its first major snowfall of the year.

Ichabod's Revenge – Sleepy Hollow, Vermont
Most eastern racers were at the Craftsbury Marathon
or the UVM Carnival, but this race had a good turn-out
of college skiers and others. Two coaches ended up taking the victories: Jessica
Smith of Williams and Jon Arne Enevoldsen of the Green Mountain Valley School.
