Founded in 1967, the Nordic Ski Club of Fairbanks (NSCF) has created and maintains a world-class trail system at the Birch Hill Recreation Area upon which it is currently devoted to providing the programs and facilities to grow and support cross-country skiers of all ages and skill levels, from beginners to world-class athletes.

The NSCF desires to hire an Executive Director (ED). This position requires fulfilling four major functions: income generation, program leadership, staff supervision (employees and contractors), and stakeholder relations.

The NSCF’s current major sources of income are donations, grants, sponsorships, program fees, memberships, and endowment income.

Club programs include: Adult Lessons; Junior Nordics; Fairbanks Cross Country (FXC), which offers three levels of training/competition for youth and young adults plus one for masters; Biathlon; Trails (winter grooming and summer maintenance); and Competition Events, with responsibility for organizing local, state, and national ski races held at Birch Hill.

Staff includes six program administrators, up to fifteen employees at peak operations, contractors, plus a very significant crew of dedicated volunteers.

Stakeholders include the skiing public, the club’s members, sponsors, donors, the Fairbanks North Star Borough and the US Army (land and infrastructure owners and operators), and volunteers for the various NSCF activities and committees.
