Drills and BMD skate test

Sverre CaldwellOctober 8, 2009

It was a little dark this morning for pictures but we had a good ski with slalom (both feet for turns and 1 foot for balance) and games. We stayed away from strength because we had a BMD skate test scheduled for the afternoon.br /a onblur=”try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}” href=”http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_H2SCM3lmKm8/Ss531OdeviI/AAAAAAAABPY/HmgzSdaEqkA/s1600-h/100_5249.JPG”img style=”display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;” src=”http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_H2SCM3lmKm8/Ss531OdeviI/AAAAAAAABPY/HmgzSdaEqkA/s400/100_5249.JPG” border=”0″ alt=””id=”BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5390377560307580450″ //abr /After classes we had an all school clean up and then headed to Ball Mtn. Dam for our 1 km uphill skate test. We try to do this test once a month to see how the team is reacting to the training. It is a little tricky doing a field test because conditions tend to change and you can have fast days and slow days. Our test today was in cooler temperatures (50) which will tend to slow down the bearings in the roller skis and thus lead to slower times. We have been roller skiing 4-5 times a week, but with the XC running races that we have been jumping in, we have not done much roller ski intensity (just speed and endurance). We were all interested to see how the times would stack up.br /Overall, we were very happy. We had 7 PR’s and 3 others within 2 seconds of their PR. If you take into account the slower conditions, all 10 of these skiers improved. Two skiers were fighting colds and did not do the test and two others were 7-8 seconds off their PR’s. We will review the training of the two who did not show clear improvement and see if we can get them on a good improvement curve again. This is not a panic situation by any means, it is just a small red flag so we will make sure that everything is fine (sometimes you just don’t have a great day).br /Skiers of the day awards go to Hallie, Cambria, Walker and Skyler (who set a new course record)!br /Here are the times:br /Skyler 2:33br /Bridger 2:42br /Cam 2:54br /J Austin 2:58br /Cobby 2:59br /Walker 3:09br /Tyler 3:22br /Mac 3:23br /Heather 3:24br /Issy P 3:30br /Cambria 3:31br /Rachel 3:34br /Hallie 3:49div class=”blogger-post-footer”img width=’1′ height=’1′ src=’https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/4680416899705879324-4320225110329864148?l=smsxc.blogspot.com’ alt=” //div
