Still Skiing in Montana

Reader Chris Axelson sent us this report and photos:

The BSF Senior Team headed to Beartooth Pass over the Memorial Day Weekend for a little skiing. Winter is late leaving the Bozeman area and it continues to snow daily in the mountains with the snowline currently located at about 7,000 feet. The team headed down to the Beartooth Pass for three days of great skiing, horseing around and sunshine. For those of you not familiar with the area Beartooth Pass is located at an elevation of 10,947 feet. So the sun is intense and the Oxygen isn't. All the new snow is keeping the snowfields from cupping up, and the cold nights are making for fast crust cruising in the AM with perfect tele-turns later in the morning.

The club is headed back this Saturday and hoping for one or two more weekends before we bid goodbye to snow…. Lets see, we started skiing in October, its June now, that doesn't leave much time for hiking, biking…….
