Sierra Spring Skate Trip

Its getting to be late Spring, which means that crust skiing in the Sierras is just about perfect. Here are some photos and comments from Far West Nordic's Mark Nadell.

Here are some photos from the latest Sierra Spring Skate Trip. Temperatures around here have been pretty warm in the evening, so we’ve not been able to do a lot of local trips, but this week it got a little cooler, and the conditions today were spectacularly good. This is a little ridgeline skate that I first did in 1998, but never had the opportunity to repeat it. It has some of the most incredible views throughout of any skate trip we’ve done, and it’s almost in our backyard. It travels from the Mt. Rose Highway above Lake Tahoe, and heads west along the Rim Trail all the way to Brockway Summit and Highway 267, with views of the Lake almost the entire way.
