I used to think that there was very little technique in running. Then, I met this guy named Andrew on the back porch of Winthrop Mountain Sports and he helped me go from a 10:01 3000m to a 9:17, thats 7.5%.
Andrew Nelson owns and runs Altius Physical Therapy in Winthrop. Okay, so I have done a number of things in the last few years to improve my fitness and running performance, however working with Andrew has been huge. First in terms of running, but also in classical striding. He has an excellent understanding of bio mechanics and how to use your body most efficiently in running and cross country skiing.
Yesterday we spent the morning talking about our respective ski seasons and some of the things that have led to the successes from last season. We then focused on areas to improve on for this coming season. Tricep cramping has been an issue for me and we are looking at ways to have my double pole rely more on my bone structure for classic and skate marathons.
There is always a way to become more efficient. Today I ran my 8*600m spring track intervals. I have data from the last 4 years on this workout and today was by far the easiest effort at the same 2-minute pace. Focusing on technique and seeing the difference has made track workouts fun for me.
Thanks Andrew
