FasterSkierDecember 7, 2011

The international  long distance cross country ski tour Ski Classics continues its growth. 2012 prize money of 110,000 Euros is more than double than the previous season’s amount.

Ski Classics consists of seven ski races across Europe, Jizerska Padesatka Czech Republic, Marcialonga Italy, König Ludwig Lauf Germany, Tartu Maraton Estonia, Vasaloppet Sweden, Birkebeinerrennet Norway, Ski Classics Final Norway. The professional skiers compete for three different leader bibs: The green sprint bib, the yellow overall leader bib and the pink best youth skier bib. In addition there is a team competition where each teams 2 best male skiers and single best women skier together with the teams total sprint points are calculated.

Ski Classics is live broadcasted in more than 10 countries around the world from Norway to Mexico. The wide spread media distribution is due to an interesting mass start competition form, exotic landscapes and a state of the art TV production.

“We are happy being able to increase the prize money from Euro 50.000 2011 to Euro 110.000 2012. And hopefully we can continue the growth over the coming season!” Says David Nilsson Executive Director of Ski Classics, he continues “Hopefully the increase in prize money can bring more skiers to the long distance world, but even more important is to show appreciation to Ski Classics existing stars”
