The Gatineau Loppet organizing committee is just completing the final preparations as it gets ready to officially open the doors to École secondaire Mont-Bleu at 5 p.m., and to welcome the thousands of skiers from around the region and from 20 other countries around the world. The 37th edition of the biggest cross-country skiing event in Canada will be taking place in Gatineau Park this weekend, which will be filled with races for not only elite but all levels of skiers.

Winter’s knocking at the door! Local skiers are thrilled at the sight of the first snowfall of the last few days and the prospect of the upcoming cross-country season in Gatineau Park. Winter may not yet be officially here, but local cross-country skiers are thrilled with the sneak preview. They have been out in force in Gatineau Park, enjoying the delightful gift of snow over the last few days: just in time to set the mood for the official launch of the 36th edition of the Gatineau Loppet, the biggest cross-country skiing event in Canada, which will run from February 14 to 16, 2014.
