A report from the Bend Nordic Team. Sunday, Oct. 4th brought a thick, wet snowstorm to Bend. Power was out. Trees were down. The skiing was, and still is, amazing! Members of the Bend Nordic Team continued to get after it Tuesday morning for some 4×7 minute intervals on near-perfect snow conditions. Wax of the day: VR50, although 55 or 60 covered with 45 or extra blue would probably have been even better to match...

Allan Maki of “The Globe and Mail” checks in with the Canadian Ski Team’s Sara Renner. Ironically, on the very morning Sara Renner is discussing her sport and the evils within, a certified drug tester appears and politely asks for a moment of her time, along with a sample, of course. The Olympic silver medalist obliges without annoyance because she believes in the purity of cross-country skiing and because she no longer frets the changeups...

All of the women who attended were very enthusiastic and excited to improve their skiing technique. We did all dry-land work, both classic and [...]

The IOC has added a number of photos and several videos of North American athletes to their website, Olympic.org. The two videos currently up are from 2006 and feature Canada’s medal winning performances in the Women’s Sprint and Women’s Team Sprint. Both are worth watching – the Team Sprint video includes a shot of Sara Renner’s famous broken pole and Beckie Scott’s powerful finish to grab the silver. The Sprint video highlights Chandra Crawford’s stunning...
