Thomas Training Center Ski Camps
Athletes have two tremendous camps on Eagle Glacier
Thomas Training Center
The June camp was blessed with what many veterans described as the best weather ever for a camp, and several commented that the July camp was “doomed”, sure to have the worst weather. Those fears faded as the weather for the July camp was even better, without even a threat of “normal” periods of overcast, fog or rain.
The snow pack on the accumulation zone of Eagle Glacier is very good this year, surprising due to the poor snow at lower elevations this past winter. There is little sign of cupping on the slopes that are baked by the sun, with no sign of corn snow at the close of the most recent camp on July 12. Classic tracks were firm, and excellent klister skiing most afternoons, balanced by a firm skate lane in the mornings.
