Several Norwegian national team cross country skiers expressed last winter a desire to cooperate more with the biathlon national team. The two teams had their only combined workout a week a go when they met in Italy for a dryland workout.

<p>– It would be exciting to look in to what the best biathlon skiers are doing. It would be good to do some training with them and exchange ideas, was Skjeldal’s comments at that point.</p>
<p>The coaches for both teams have met several times the last couple years to discuss how they possibly could cooperate. The skiers have however seen little (or no) changes come out of these talks. The only workout together happened a week a go when it was possible to get together during both team’s altitude camps in Italy. </p>
<p>– It has been hard to achieve anything in praxis. We sat down together in April to see what was possible and this was the only workout we could come up with, said national team coach Krister Soregard.</p>
<p>Different training philosophies and camp sites are some of the reasons preventing more combined training. They were however staying at the same site during the on-going Livigno, Italy altitude camp and a combined workout was put on the agenda. Soregard underlines that there is more cooperation, but that this is between the coaches.</p>
<p>– It’s also up to the skiers what they can do on their own. The possibilities are open. If any of the biathlon team skiers wants to train with us they are also welcome to do that. Frode Andresen came to one of our camps last season. Our skiers can also train with the biathlon team at their camps if they desire, says Soregard.</p>
<p>The combined workout was a two-person running relay including shooting (for both skiers) with one biathlon and one cross country skier on each team.</p>
