After placing 2nd and 3rd respectively in yesterday's 10km freestyle event, Rebecca Dussault and Kikkan Randall combined forces to win on the final day of SuperTour racing at Soldier Hollow for December.
After five alternating laps, Dussault tagged off to Randall in first place, as Karin Camenisch sent teammate Brooke Baughman on her way less than a second behind. With a solid 20-second lead over the third place team of Sandra Gredig and Ashley McQueen from the University of Utah, Baughman was left to either chase after Randall for the win or cruise in for an almost-guaranteed second place. Over this final lap, Randall managed to burn away Baughman by no less than 8.8 seconds, taking a well-deserved “co-victory” along with Dussault after several podium finishes in the previous eight days at Soldier Hollow. Camenisch and Baughman, in turn, finished an impressive 26.7 seconds ahead of the strong Gredig-McQueen team.
