Strawberry Days at 8500 feet

Winters are hard & long up by Strawberry Reservoir located 30 minutes from Heber City, Utah — the home of cross country skiing at the 2002 Olympics.

Sunday morning dawned a breezy 10 Fahrenheit up on the ridgeline. It is a place where snowmobilers and xc skiers peacefully coexist on endless trails that are groomed frequently at no charge to its users. Heaven? Well no it's just Utah in winter. Sunday mornings are best to ski the freshly groomed trails.

Don Pollari, Mike Weglarz and I skied a 40k+ loop that climbs 1,500 feet up to the ridgeline before descending down a 5 mile long logging road in a beautiful forest. The last 15k is a series rolling hills before completing the loop 3+ hours later.

We understand many places of the world no longer have winter and are saddened by the news.
Meanwhile back up at Strawberry things are still pretty snowy and cold on a perfect January day.
