Hannah charging down the finish chute in the Women's 10k Free.

The distance races kicked off this morning (or was it still evening?) at Kincaid.  The men raced 3 laps of 5k in a dark dawn while the women had 2 laps in the afternoon.  It was a tough course- steep uphills and steep downhills in rapidly deteriorating conditions that left mainly sugar and dirt on most of the climbs and corners.

It was a solid day for Craftsbury with 3 top 30 finishes.  In the women’s race, Kikkan Randall skied to a dominating win. Ida led the way for the GRP again in 20th place, followed closely by Hannah in 27th.  Kris Freeman took the win on the men’s side while Tim skied to 28th.

Warmer temps are here to stay it seems and Pepa told us now the only worry is praying she can figure out the kick wax for the long mass start format on Wednesday.  We’re all psyched to rub shoulders with the rest of the Nordic Nation in the 30/20k classic races  after a much needed rest day tomorrow.
