Askim, NORWAY – Kikkan Randall (USST) beat both Norway’s sprint stars Guro Strøm Solli and Ella Gjømle Berg in the Norwegian roller ski cup opener Saturday. The opener event consisted of a 200-meter sprint qualifier and city criterium finals heat in the morning, followed by an 1130-meter uphill time trial qualifier and final heats in the afternoon.

Randall beat Strøm Solli by 0.3 seconds in the 200-meter qualifier, and then again with a solid 27.3 second margin in the afternoon uphill time trial. Gjømle Berg was third in both events.

On the men’s side, Ragnar Bragvin Andersen of Njaard Ski/ Team Kollen won both events, as predicted. Bragvin Andersen’s Njaard Ski teammate Sindre Wiig Nordby was second in the city crit finals, and Hallvard Moian Nydal, also of Njaard Ski was second in the uphill final.
