A business primarily known for being the only US importer of Marwe rollerskis, Finn Sisu Sauna and Ski Shop has even more to offer this summer.  Monday, July 12 kicked off the Sisu Summer Lecture Series.

The lectures, held at Finn Sisu’s new store location in Lauderdale, Minnesota, will take place every Monday night at 6:00pm.

Last week’s first lecture was delivered by Toby Markowitz and focused on the WAMXC masters training group based out of the Twin Cities.  WAMXC, which loosely stands for Woman and Men who Cross-Country Ski, is exactly what it sounds, although in addition to being a group of adults who gather to train for ski season, they profess an undying love for coffee.  You can view their highly entertaining website at wamxc.org.

Monday’s attendees witnessed a presentation on running and marathons, delivered by elite local marathoner Nichole Porath.

Future Monday nights will provide the opportunity to hear Ritva Taipale talk about her current PhD research on the Biology of Physical Activity and about how to train smart, personal trainer Chrissy Bloemendal answer questions about strength training, and elite skier Hilary Patzer speak about the prevention and treatment of sports injuries.

The full lecture schedule and further details can be found on Finn Sisu’s website, at http://www.finnsisu.com/t-events.aspx.
