5 Things to Do After the Slopes Close

Matthew VoisinNovember 17, 2020

Picture the scene: you have just spent a long day skiing on the slopes. Adrenaline is pumping through your veins, and you are happy but exhausted. The slopes are closing, and it is time to return to the lodge and wind down. But what do you do to pass the time after the slopes are closed?

A skiing trip is not just about the actual skiing – after all, the slopes aren’t open 24/7! Having activities to do in the evenings is essential, and choosing the right activities can be the icing on the cake of the whole experience.

Go for a Walk

If your adrenaline is still pumping after skiing and you aren’t quite ready to crash out just yet, why not go for a stroll? You should avoid the steeper slopes, especially once it is dark, but at many resorts, there will still be space for you to walk around and enjoy the majestic scenery!

Cook a Meal

Depending on the resort that you are staying at, you may have meals provided for you. If not, cooking a cozy and comforting meal can be the perfect end to an exciting day. Why not team up with your family or friends and make a huge pot of nourishing soup or stew to warm you and replenish your energy after a long day?

Read a Book

You may want to wind down with some alone time at the end of the day. After all, skiing the slopes can be physically and mentally tiring (although it is also fun, of course!). Sometimes, all you want is to curl up somewhere warm and lose yourself in a book whatever your taste in reading material, packing a good book for your skiing vacation is highly recommended to give you something to do when you need some time to yourself.

Play Video Games

A video game session can be a great way to wind down after a long day. If you can, packing a video games console and some controllers can make the evenings fun, especially if there are a few of you and you can play together. You could even get hold of a skiing game and continue your competitions back at the lodge! If you can’t bring a video games console, there are plenty of online games on site like Unibet casino that you can play from your laptop, smartphone, or tablet.

Have a Board Games Night

If you prefer your gaming a bit more traditional, why not arrange a board games evening with your family or friends at the lodge? There are plenty of board games to choose from, from family games like Monopoly and Cluedo to more adult-themed games like Cards Against Humanity. If you don’t have any board games or packs of cards, a game of charades can be surprisingly fun, especially when paired with a few glasses of wine! Playing games together can increase the social aspect of vacation and be as memorable as the slopes themselves.
