Do you have an amazing pre or post-workout food that hits the spot before or after a long training session? Do you have a recipe that helps you recover for tomorrow’s intervals? Are you willing reveal your cooking skills so you can win the respect of the nordic ski community in addition to some Rottefella swag?
Regardless of your motivations, now is your time to shine with FasterSkier’s Ultimate Refueling Contest.
In this contest we are looking for appealing, tasty, and energizing foods that help you get the most out of your training. All you need to do is prepare the food, take a picture of it, and send us the recipe! No pre or post-workout food is too big or to small; too healthy or too decadent.
Submit the following to lander@fasterskier.com:
- Name and a valid email address (that you actually check) in addition to shipping address
- A photo of your post-workout food
- A recipe for said food
All submissions will be judged by a panel of current and former ski racers based on creativity, quality, and ability to refuel. Multiple submissions will be accepted but only one submission from a person/party will be judged. In addition, teams/clubs may enter group submissions.
The grand prize winner will receive a pair of Rottefella Xcelerator Titan Bindings (Rottefella’s most luxurious and best bindings to date) and the utmost respect from fellow chefs of the nordic ski community. Second place will receive a pair of Xcelerator bindings from Rottefella. Third place will receive a pair of new Rottefella insoles.
Do you ski on SNS bindings or are sponsored by another brand? You can still enter! If the allure of winning isn’t enough, Rottefella gear makes excellent gifts for friends or family members. In lieu of the gift of an Rottefella binding, winners can instead opt for FasterSkier prizes.
Winners will be notified after August 15, 2014. Contact lander@fasterskier.com for more information.

Calling Audun…

Todd I second that. Audun’s eating habits are legendary. He would describe gaining 15 pounds over the summer and than through hard training get back to race weight by the fall. There is a pic somewhere out there of him at his Alaskan cabin with food hanging from the porch posts. Maybe a Moose meat flurry would be in order to submit.

One Finn-Minn race in Bemidji—when it went up the lake the 1st day and then down the lake the 2nd day (super cold both days) I watched Dunner hit the wall with 5-7 kms to go and barely crawled across the finish line. I had dinner with him that night—and as the Quebecers say, “He ate the house!” Pancakes, steaks, French toast, potatoes anyway you could cook them, more pancakes, more steaks—deserts, whoa, put on the feed bag—I was totally blown away.
I asked a physiologist, later, what a persons chances of recovery would be in his having hit the wall day #1—-in the 12-14 hr period he would have, he would only replete 1/2 his energy resources. Well, Dunner blew that theory out of the water—he won the whole race the next day—made up the handicap and was the leader going across the finish line—one for the story books!
I saw the whole thing!!!
